Meet Steve Blackburn, our current Rotary President
Today's face of Rotary: Steve Blackburn.
Steve joined the Rotary Club of Cedaredge in 2024 after moving to town and quickly embraced its spirit of volunteerism. A retired architect with 40 years of experience, Steve has served as Sergeant-at-Arms and is now Club President, inspiring members to set goals, engage in service, and celebrate accomplishments.
Living in Cedaredge since September 2023, Steve and his wife Dee enjoy the small-town friendships, thriving arts scene, and outdoor paradise beneath the Grand Mesa. He is also an artist and author, creating architectural sketches of historic Delta County buildings and writing his autobiography for his children in Germany.
Steve’s wish for Rotary: to attract new members, support local businesses, mentor future leaders, and continue serving Cedaredge with excellence.
Why did you become president of the club?
I believe the office of the President is essential to maintaining a healthy Rotary Club. Leadership has been a lifelong study and practice for me. Over the past four decades, I’ve held leadership roles in many organizations and businesses, developing the skills to inspire and guide others.
As President of the Cedaredge Rotary Club, I lead our members, promote Rotary in the community, and help the club reach its goals by encouraging members to:
• Develop and evaluate our strategic plan to keep it current and relevant
• Monitor progress toward our goals
• Set annual objectives that build toward long-range vision
• Participate actively in club activities
• Create action plans for each goal
• Celebrate our accomplishments together

Besides Rotary, what do you enjoy most?
I am an artist and author. Currently, I’m creating a series of architectural sketches of historic buildings in Delta County. For the past five years, I’ve also been writing my autobiography to leave a legacy for my two children, who live and work in Germany. As a Christian businessman, I host a weekly Bible study for a few men in my home. I like traveling, swimming, hiking, sketching, watercoloring, dreaming, reading, studying the Bible, and investing in the future.
